Rosie Grady is the daughter of Clare & Reg L’ego who used to own the little cafe off the park. Rosie is my mum and has told us this story many times, when she was a young girl she visited the city to see the Lego museum and whilst there met dad. It was love at first sight. Dad is a truck driver and due to the work is often away for months at a time. She found looking after me and my brother Ted (who you've met at the cafe) quite the handful but when my little sister Sam was coming along the decision was made to come back to Lego Planet. After grandma and grandpa went on their retirement cruise, they left Ted running the cafe, I was off learning to be a journalist at the City Bugle and Sam was at college, mum decided to open the B&B. It is a fabulous place, clean and well decorated. Lit with state of the art lighting and very comfortable beds – I know firsthand! Breakfast is included in the stay and if you’re willing to eat whatever is made you can join us for dinner too. All in all it’s the best accommodation in town!

It was an ordinary Saturday in L’ego Town. The kids were playing on the playground the street was bustling and there was a general buzz in the air about the new data centre which was opening soon. Fireman Barney had been walking Jess the fire stations Dalmatian, when he spotted his fiancé ‘EZ’ inside Ted’s Cafe. He decided to stop off for a cuppa, leaving the dog tied beside a water bowl. Ted served him his tea and then went outside to top up the water bowl and take a couple of dog biscuits for Jess. Some of the kids came over to pet Jess who got very excited and managed to pull the lead out of the rail. After everyone had done a few laps of the park trying to catch her, she suddenly darted into the open cafe door and headed straight for Barney. Jumping up at him, she knocked the candle over on the table and the cloth burst into flames. Barneys training kicked in straight away evacuating the other customers before he grabbed the fire extinguisher from behind the counter and put the fire out. Afterwards, Ted and Barney shook hands, “That was a close call. Barney, you saved Ted's business from going up in flames." "...and I’m very grateful.” “You’re welcome Ted, it was nothing really. Just what I am trained to do.” But as they all stood smiling for the picture, I could not help but wonder... why does Ted need candles?

​Born in the city to Rosie and Arthur Grady. Ted grew up with a love of food from all over the world. At the age of 10 he became big brother to Larry (yes me folks!). But sadly when his father died unexpectedly a few years later, his mum Rosie moved back to L’ego Village to be with her parents. This was a terrible prospect for Ted. No more chance to try new cuisine or even eat all the strange things like Aubergine that he had come across in the city. Soon after the move Teds sister Sam was born and every moment he could he spent out of the house. The move to L’ego Village was not such a bad thing for Ted as his grandparents owned a small cafe beside a patch of threadbare grass where all the kids played. Ted grew quickly in confidence and stature. When he was not out with the local gang he was in the cafes kitchen or helping out by serving the customers. When his grandparents retired, Ted took over the business full time. He has never looked back.

My name is Stephanie L'Ego. I'm not originally from our little town like Larry. I'm from Friendsville which is twinned with L'Ego town. I'll tell you more about my home town at a later date as I'm sure I will be back from time to time.

I managed to come out of school with some good grades, especially in English and Baking. I always knew I wanted to be a journalist and regularly contributed to our school paper but my first job was with the wonderful Bob from Bobs Big Bun Bakery and Bookshop. I would decorate the cupcakes for him. :-) ​

​My name is Larry L’Ego intrepid reporter and news hound. As mentioned in my last post, I am here to tell you a bit about myself. I’ve returned to my home town after a short stint at Her Majesty’s pleasure for a complete misunderstanding over a contaminated doughnut. The town has undergone a massive change in the last year and it’s time for the world to know we are here and what we get up to.
​One thing you might notice is that many of us are from the family L’Ego. This is because most of us are related in some way. The town founders are from a very large family! Talking of large families, let me introduce you to my mate Bill. His father is Bill L’Ego X (that’s ten in roman numerals) and he has 6 sons. Bless them but they are not creative with names. All are called Bill and almost all of them enjoy blowing stuff up! That is why Bill X started L’Ego Construction. 

I have digressed. Upon my return home, I was invited to tag along with Bill L'Ego XV, who frankly is a bit of a disappointment to his family being a carpenter and not into explosives. He had been given the honour of putting the finishing touches to a new town sign outside the Town Hall. Some of the council members looked on and cheered as it was unveiled by the mayor, Arnold L’ego. Come on guys it’s just a sign! Later Bill gave me a quote, ‘It was a great honour. I hope to be able to build another sign one day.’  Oh! the mayor wanted to say something too, ‘This is a special day in the development of our town. Soon we will have a bustling metropolis, but we will never lose our special identity. Watch this space!’ Very stirring sir.
