VIP’s came from all over this evening for the gala opening of the towns new picture house – The Palace. The manageress and her staff were all out to meet them including our mayor with his date for the evening and his son Mick in tow. Using my new drone camera I caught a picture of a second party taking place on the roof. It seems the construction crew are having a premier of their own! I'm going to sneek in the back door now and join them. I'll let you know what happens! Reporter Larry L’ego
I was walking past the bank the other day and looked down the side street. There was something different but it took me a moment to work out what. Instead of the darkness of the wild wood which backs on to our little town there was a building! I always carry my camera - you never know what lovely girls... er hmmm... stories you're going to see so i checked my photos sure it hadnt been there yesterday! Talking to the paver, who was putting the finishing touches to the path outside, it was a new Doctors office. Judging by the sign – I had to look it up! – it is a psychiatrists office! Well there are plenty of people in this town in need of their services!!! Wait.... there seems to be even more measuring going on. Stay tuned for the next instalment! Reporter: Larry L’ego.
At a press conference today, Mayor Arnold presented the first stage to the towns new transport system – Legways. “I am very proud to announce the new Legway transport system – 'Legways for All'. Anyone in town can come and see me or visit the town hall to put their name down for one free of charge.” I asked him what else he had planned but he would not be drawn saying “It will be glorious! But you will just have to wait and see Larry my boy!” and he walked away to talk to the film crew. I tried to get a word with the man on the Legway but he disappeared down the street remarkably quickly. They are fast these machines. Welcome everyone to the next social event on the town calendar! The prestigious opening of our very own art gallery. It would seem the sign painter has heard the same rumours as we did and has made a mistake on the sign. I hear that he will be out of hospital soon after his unfortunate ladder accident. The great and the good are due to turn up for a special look around the gallery before it officially opens its doors. Stephanie will be having an exclusive tour and she will tell you all about it! People are lining the street with the police and gallery security keeping the enthusiastic crowd at bay. Ah, here is the first limo to turn up tonight and it has Mayor Arnold and ... is that his a new girl friend? Next we have Bouncy L’ego a leading pop star from Friendsville - she'll be singing at a venue near you soon! Then there’s Al and his son Cal, with Steve and Holly - i understand Pierre has a very affectionate poodle. The bouncers, *cough* erm 'gallery security' are closing the doors now that alll the VIP’s are inside. I’ll wait around and see if anything exciting happens but for now it’s me Larry L’ego signing off.
Mr Pierre L’ego is a mysterious figure in our town. Living in a loft above Chez Albert few people ever see this elusive painter. I have it on good authority though that he is in fact Pete L’ego long lost son of our illustrious Mayor Arnold. When the mayor and his wife Joan divorced some years ago Pete went to live with her in Paris while his younger brother Mick stayed with the mayor. While in France Pete became an accomplished painter and quickly made a name for himself – at least my art source tells me he did. But it turns out that the apple does not fall far from the tree as they say. It is rumoured that in his spare time he was creating forgeries and selling them to unsuspecting buyers. I suspect that is why he suddenly turned up back here a few months ago to renovate an old warehouse into the towns art gallery.
Hi, let me introduce to you... Steve and Holly!
Steve Mason is one half of the enthusiastic and committed husband and wife team that run the pet shop and veterinary practice above. Holly trained as a vet in a nearby college where she met Steve as he did his animal welfare certificate. Steve had been planning to open his own pet shop and when the two fell in love (awww) they decided to get married and settle in Lego Planet. Steve has all sorts of animals from fish to dogs, cats and even cute bears! Holly looks after Lego Planet's animals, great and small. She runs regular surgeries out of the clinic and will also make house calls if the animal cannot be brought in. Rosie Grady is the daughter of Clare & Reg L’ego who used to own the little cafe off the park. Rosie is my mum and has told us this story many times, when she was a young girl she visited the city to see the Lego museum and whilst there met dad. It was love at first sight. Dad is a truck driver and due to the work is often away for months at a time. She found looking after me and my brother Ted (who you've met at the cafe) quite the handful but when my little sister Sam was coming along the decision was made to come back to Lego Planet. After grandma and grandpa went on their retirement cruise, they left Ted running the cafe, I was off learning to be a journalist at the City Bugle and Sam was at college, mum decided to open the B&B. It is a fabulous place, clean and well decorated. Lit with state of the art lighting and very comfortable beds – I know firsthand! Breakfast is included in the stay and if you’re willing to eat whatever is made you can join us for dinner too. All in all it’s the best accommodation in town! It was an ordinary Saturday in L’ego Town. The kids were playing on the playground the street was bustling and there was a general buzz in the air about the new data centre which was opening soon. Fireman Barney had been walking Jess the fire stations Dalmatian, when he spotted his fiancé ‘EZ’ inside Ted’s Cafe. He decided to stop off for a cuppa, leaving the dog tied beside a water bowl. Ted served him his tea and then went outside to top up the water bowl and take a couple of dog biscuits for Jess. Some of the kids came over to pet Jess who got very excited and managed to pull the lead out of the rail. After everyone had done a few laps of the park trying to catch her, she suddenly darted into the open cafe door and headed straight for Barney. Jumping up at him, she knocked the candle over on the table and the cloth burst into flames. Barneys training kicked in straight away evacuating the other customers before he grabbed the fire extinguisher from behind the counter and put the fire out. Afterwards, Ted and Barney shook hands, “That was a close call. Barney, you saved Ted's business from going up in flames." "...and I’m very grateful.” “You’re welcome Ted, it was nothing really. Just what I am trained to do.” But as they all stood smiling for the picture, I could not help but wonder... why does Ted need candles?
Born in the city to Rosie and Arthur Grady. Ted grew up with a love of food from all over the world. At the age of 10 he became big brother to Larry (yes me folks!). But sadly when his father died unexpectedly a few years later, his mum Rosie moved back to L’ego Village to be with her parents. This was a terrible prospect for Ted. No more chance to try new cuisine or even eat all the strange things like Aubergine that he had come across in the city. Soon after the move Teds sister Sam was born and every moment he could he spent out of the house. The move to L’ego Village was not such a bad thing for Ted as his grandparents owned a small cafe beside a patch of threadbare grass where all the kids played. Ted grew quickly in confidence and stature. When he was not out with the local gang he was in the cafes kitchen or helping out by serving the customers. When his grandparents retired, Ted took over the business full time. He has never looked back. Hi there!
My name is Larry L’Ego intrepid reporter and news hound. As mentioned in my last post, I am here to tell you a bit about myself. I’ve returned to my home town after a short stint at Her Majesty’s pleasure for a complete misunderstanding over a contaminated doughnut. The town has undergone a massive change in the last year and it’s time for the world to know we are here and what we get up to. One thing you might notice is that many of us are from the family L’Ego. This is because most of us are related in some way. The town founders are from a very large family! Talking of large families, let me introduce you to my mate Bill. His father is Bill L’Ego X (that’s ten in roman numerals) and he has 6 sons. Bless them but they are not creative with names. All are called Bill and almost all of them enjoy blowing stuff up! That is why Bill X started L’Ego Construction. I have digressed. Upon my return home, I was invited to tag along with Bill L'Ego XV, who frankly is a bit of a disappointment to his family being a carpenter and not into explosives. He had been given the honour of putting the finishing touches to a new town sign outside the Town Hall. Some of the council members looked on and cheered as it was unveiled by the mayor, Arnold L’ego. Come on guys it’s just a sign! Later Bill gave me a quote, ‘It was a great honour. I hope to be able to build another sign one day.’ Oh! the mayor wanted to say something too, ‘This is a special day in the development of our town. Soon we will have a bustling metropolis, but we will never lose our special identity. Watch this space!’ Very stirring sir. It’s time for me to meet up with Harry ‘the herbs’ for some after dinner entertainment. Back soon with more Tales from Lego Planet. Hi there and welcome to the new look L'Ego Planet Newsreel!
